First Blood was released into theaters on October 22nd, 1982. Filming locations include Coquitlam, Hope and Maple Ridge B.C. Canada. It was directed by Ted Kotcheff. The film is based on the 1972 novel First Blood by David Morrell. Sylvester Stallone started filming First Blood five months after filming for Rocky III had concluded and both were released in 1982. First Blood has spawned four sequels, Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), Rambo (2008) and Rambo: Last Blood (2019). The score was composed by the legendary Jerry Goldsmith. The films first DVD release was on October 21st, 1998.

In 2011, a new bridge was built right next to the Kawkawa Lake Bridge and it was decommissioned. In July of 2011, it was torn down due to environmental concerns. The scene took place next to the Coquihalla River.
