It's the home of the University of Oregon football team and was constructed on September 23rd, 1967. It's named after Thomas E. Autzen. Stadium capacity is just over 60,000. It's the largest sports stadium in the state of Oregon. Between the 3rd and 4th quarters of every football game (as well as basketball games) the crowd sings (and dances) a rendition of Shout from Animal House as the scene from the film is played on the Duckvision jumbotron. ESPN College Gameday has visited the stadium eleven times as part of their weekly football broadcast, which usually showcases the biggest game of that given week in college football. Many opposing coaches/players have called it the loudest stadium they've ever been in. Aside from football, the stadium has hosted a number of concerts throughout the years, some of which include Blue Oyster Cult, Bryan Adams, Garth Brooks, The Grateful Dead and U2.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown was released into theaters on December 24th, 1976. Filming locations include Texarkana, Ar. and Texarkana, Tx. It was directed by Charles B. Pierce, who also played patrolman A.C. Benson a.k.a. Sparkplug, primarily for comic relief. It's loosely based on the Texarkana Moonlight Murders, crimes attributed to an unidentified serial killer known as the Phantom Killer, from February 22nd, 1946 to May 3rd, 1946. The crime spree left five dead and three wounded. The prime suspect in the case was Youell Swinney, who was linked to the murders by statements from his wife. However, she refused to testify against him, and he was never convicted. Two of the lead investigators in the case believed him to be guilty, and the 2014 book The Phantom Killer: Unlocking the Mystery of the Texarkana Serial Murders by Dr. James Presley also points to Swinney as the culprit of all five attacks. The score was composed by Jaime Mendoza-Nava. The films first DVD release was on May 21st, 2013.

The majority of the station remains dormant, as it has since the last Missouri Pacific passenger train left in 1971. The eastern-most portion of the building still operates as an Amtrak station today. For the police station in the movie, the western-most portion of the building was used. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19th, 1978.

Evil Dead 2 was released into theaters on March 15th, 1987. Filming locations include Lilesville and Wadesboro, NC. It was directed by Sam Raimi, just as the preceding installment (The Evil Dead) in 1981 and the succeeding installment (Army of Darkness) in 1992 were. Bruce Campbell returned to reprise his role of Ashley J. Williams. Henrietta was played by Ted Raimi, little brother of director Sam Raimi. At the end of each day's shoot, whenever his full body latex suit was removed, the sweat would just poor out the bottom onto the floor. The score was done by Joseph LoDuca. The films first DVD release was on August 4th, 1998.

Cabin (interior) - S. Main St. and J.R. Faison St. Wadesboro, NC. 28170
(J.R. Faison Junior High School, gymnasium)

Sets for the cabin, cellar and work shed interiors were built inside the gymnasium. The gym has been there since at least the mid 50's. In recent years, it's been used as a storage building. At the time of my visit, it was in complete derelict. Garbage and junk filled the structure from wall to wall, so much so that there's not even a clear walking path through all of the clutter. The roof has gaping holes as well. I seriously doubt that anything more will come of the building and it's all but certain to be left to rot away.

All pictures taken in 2020.

For the cabin and work shed exteriors, actual structures were constructed on private property. As a matter of fact, it's the same property that was used for portions of the 1985 film, The Color Purple, directed by Steven Spielberg. The property is located at 2323 Diggs Rd. Wadesboro, NC. 28170. However, the remains of the cabin and work shed were reportedly moved from the property by fellow Evil Dead 2 fans in 2016, as the area was set to be cleared.

Starman was released into theaters on December 14th, 1984. Filming locations include Chattanooga, Manchester and Pittsburgh, Tn. and Meteor Crater and Winslow, Az. It was directed by John Carpenter, in what would be his fifth film of the 80's. Carpenter made his trademark cameo as one of the men in the helicopter. Jeff Bridges played the lead of Starman. Bridges was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Veteran actor/stuntman Ted White, who played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th The Final Chapter, played a deer hunter in the film. Bridges and White also worked together earlier that year in Against All Odds. The score was composed by Jack Nitzsche. The films first DVD release was on August 25th, 1998.

Little Monsters was released into theaters on August 25th, 1989. Filming locations include Wilmington, NC. It was directed by Richard Greenberg. This was the only film Greenberg ever directed, although he did direct Tales From the Crypt season two episode The Sacrifice. Fred Savage played the lead of Brian Stevenson. This was the same time The Wonder Years was in production and Savage was one of the most popular child actors in the industry. His younger brother, Ben Savage, is also in the film as his younger brother Eric. This was Ben's very first acting job and he'd later go on to star in the television series, Boy Meets World. Howie Mandel did a great job as Maurice, Brian's monster buddy in the film. David Newman did the film's score. The film's first DVD release was on July 1st, 2003

Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump was released into theaters on July 6th, 1994. Filming locations include Flagstaff and Twin Arrows, Az. Savannah, Ga. Beaufort, Lady's Island, McPhersonville, Varnville and Yemassee, SC. Mexican Hat, Ut. and Washington D.C. There are many more filming locations but I'm only going to list the one's I've personally visited and I'll add more to this page as I continue to do so. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis, who has directed a number of hollywood blockbusters, including the Back to the Future trilogy. Tom Hanks played the lead of Forrest Gump in what's probably his career defining role. The films' visual effects were ahead of their time. Using CGI, it was possible to depict Gump meeting deceased personages and shaking their hands. Hanks was first shot against a blue screen along with reference markers so that he could line up with the archive footage. To record the voices of historical figures, voice actors were filmed and special effects were used to alter lip-syncing for the new dialogue. Archival footage was used and with the help of such techniques as chroma key, image warping, morphing, rotoscoping, Hanks was integrated into it.

The movie is unanimously regarded as one of the greatest films of all-time. It was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards, winning six. The wins include Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Tom Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Writing, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects. The line "Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." was ranked #40 on the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest Movie Quotes. It was added to the National Film Registry in December of 2011. The film boasts an extensive soundtrack, showcasing many great songs that had come out over the course of the movies timeline. The solid score was composed by the legendary Alan Silvestri. The films first DVD release was on August 28th, 2001.

Bus stop bench - Bull St. and Hull St. Savannah, Ga. 31401
(Chippewa Square)

The square is named after The Battle of Chippewa, which occurred in 1812. The statue in the center of the square is of General James Oglethorpe. In the film, the bench faced north, looking straight down Bull St. Four fiberglass benches were used to film the scenes, with one of them being donated to the city afterwards. It currently sits in the Savannah History Museum. Replicas of the bench, and in most cases Forrests' shoes, can be found all over the country, mainly at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurants. As of 2020, there are twenty-nine in the United States. The first was opened in Monterey, Ca. in 1996. Currently in the spot where the bench was, sits a garden.

Don't Breathe was released into theaters on August 26th, 2016. Filming locations include Detroit, Mi. It was directed by Fede Alvarez. He also directed the The Evil Dead remake, three years earlier. Jane Levy plays Rocky, the films heroine. She was in The Evil Dead remake as well. The films villain, depending on how you look at it, is played by Stephen Lang. He's best known for Avatar, but I'll always remember him for his character Ike Clanton, from Tombstone. Don't Breathe was a big breath of fresh horror movie air when it was released and it features one of the more memorable plot twists in recent years. The score was done by Roque Banos. The films first DVD release was on November 29th, 2016.

Formerly Fisher Body Plant 21, the structure was built in 1919. It was a plant that made automobile body parts for General Motors. In 1982, production at the plant ceased. In 1990, it was purchased by the Carter Color Coat Company and used for industrial painting. In 1992, the company declared bankruptcy and the building has been abandoned ever since. The city took ownership of the structure in 2000. For the exterior shot, the director decided to flip the the building, for some reason. I knew this prior to visiting but forgot when I was actually at the location, therefore my picture was taken from the wrong corner of the building. Also, the interior scenes must've been shot at another location because they don't match what's seen on screen.

Halloween (2018)

Halloween (2018) was released into theaters on October 19th, 2018. Filming locations include Charleston, NC. It was directed by David Gordon Green. It was written By Green along with Jeff Fradley and Kenny Powers himself, Danny McBride. The anticipation of the film was huge, based on multiple factors. First off, it was going to be released on the 40th anniversary of the original Halloween film. Secondly, it was bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise her role as Laurie Strode. And third, John Carpenter was returning to the franchise as an executive producer as well as collaborator on the films score. Also, Nick Castle, one of the actors to portray Michael Myers in the original film, returned to share Shape duties with James Jude Courtney. It completely disregards every other sequel in the franchise, instead acting as a direct continuation and picking up forty years after the original. However, it does give several nods to many of the other Halloween films in the series. My personal favorite being the trick or treaters wearing the three Silver Shamrock masks featured in Halloween III. The score was done by Daniel A. Davies, John Carpenter and his son, Cody Carpenter. The films first DVD release was on January 15th, 2019.

Doctor Sleep

Doctor Sleep was released into theaters on November 8th, 2019. Filming locations include Atlanta, Covington, Fayetteville and St. Mary's, Ga. It was directed by Mike Flanagan. It's an adaption of Stephen King's novel of the same name, published on September 24th, 2013. It's a sequel to his 1977 novel, The Shining. Ewan McGregor plays the lead of a grown up Danny Torrance. For the interior and exteriors of The Overlook Hotel, a remarkably detailed replica was constructed from blue prints of the original set from The Shining, made available to the production by the Kubrick Estate and Warner Bros. It was constructed at Blackhall Studios in Atlanta. Flanagan also painstakingly studied The Shining frame-by-frame, in an effort to make sure every detail and object seen on screen was re-captured correctly for the recreation. For anyone who's a fan of The Shining, this film should give you plenty of nostalgic feelings. And the solid score by The Newton Brothers will only reinforce those feelings. The films first DVD release was on February 4th, 2020.

The True Knot kill Violet - At the end of* Covered Bridge Ln. Stone Mountain, Ga. 30083
(Stone Mountain Park, Indian Island)

Stone Mountain Park is a 3,200 acre state park located fifteen miles east of Atlanta. It opened on April 14th, 1965. The park's main attractions are Stone Mountain, a massive quartz monzonite dome with an over five mile circumference at it's base and an elevation of 1,686 feet, and Stone Mountain Lake, a 363 acre lake in the heart of the park. The tree stump Rose the Hat is seen sitting on was either a prop or it was removed by the park after filming.

These scenes were filmed at the Covington town square. The protruding building seen behind the train is the Newton County Courthouse, built in 1884. On September 18th, 1980 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The entire area was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 6th, 1998. Other genre movies filmed near/on the town square include Friday the 13th Part 6 and Halloween II (2009). When they're sitting on the bench, they are facing Hays St. In reality, there is a bench in the same spot they're sitting, however it's not the one they use in the film. As a matter of fact, the bench they're sitting on is the same bench young Danny was sitting on earlier in the film.

In the film it shows Rose the Hat walking down isle 2. Whether or not it was really isle 2 during the time of filming, I don't know. I do know however, that what's now isle 3, is the one she was walking down in the film. The cooler the window explodes out of was just a prop cooler for the film, and a different one now sits in it's place.

Cobra Kai premiered on YouTube Red on May 2nd, 2018. Filming locations include Los Angeles, Ca. and Atlanta, Ga. The series, so far, has been beautifully written, featuring just the right amount of nostalgia for fans of the earlier Karate Kid films. That includes bringing back a number of the original actors from those films, to reprise their characters. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the filming locations from the series (so far), but rather just a handful of locations that I've visited here and there.

Let Me In was released into theaters on October 1st, 2010. Filming locations include Albuquerque, NM. It was directed by Matt Reeves, who two years earlier directed the horror film, Cloverfield. It's a remake of the 2008 Sweedish film, Let the Right One In. Both films were adapted from John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel, Let the Right One In. And both films in my opinion, are brilliant, as they tell the story of a dark, yet sweet love story. The lead of Owen, is played remarkably well by Kodi Smit-PcPhee. Chloe Grace Moretz plays Abby, to perfection. Elias Koteas also stars as The Policeman. Koteas has an impressive list of films to his credit, some of which include, Apt Pupil, The Haunting In Connecticut, The Killer Inside Me, Shutter Island and Zodiac. It's set in 1983 and features some great music from the time period. A few of which include Breakup Song by the Greg Kihn Band, Burnin' For You by Blue Oyster Cult, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me by Culture Club and Let's Dance by David Bowie. The score was done by Michael Giacchino. The films first DVD release was on February 1st, 2011.

Around 1985, the park had become known for violence when prostitution, drug dealing, shoot-outs and the occasional drowning became common place, with as many as thirty murders in 1990. Also, if your goal is to get shit on by a bird, then MacArthur Park is probably your best bet. On May 1st, 1972 it was designated as City of Los Angeles Cultural Monument #100.
